Baked Hamburger Steaks
When I found this recipe it was called ‘Amish Hamburger Steaks’. I made a few tweaks and it’s delish! Zach rated it 11/10!
Ingredients:
2 pounds of ground beef
1 1/2 cups of saltine crackers, crumbled
1 cup of milk
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
flour, for coating
salt and pepper, as desired
For the gravy:
1 1/2 cups of milk
2 cans condensed mushroom soup
1 packet Lipton onion soup mix
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl, mix ground beef, saltines, 1 cup of milk, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper. Shape the meat mixture into 1/2 inch thick hamburger steaks. Dredge in flour.
Brown the steaks in a skillet over medium high heat before transferring to a baking dish. Whisk together 2 can of cream of mushroom soup, milk, and Lipton soup mix. Pour the mixture over the hamburger steaks. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Let rest before serving over mashed potatoes.
